After entering St. Petersburg College, Kolesnikova won the Florida State Young Artists Symposium Competition in 1999. This earned her a scholarship to attend Florida State University, and she graduated with honors from their School of Music, in August 2001. She became a U.S. citizen on January 18, 2006. She married her Italian-born manager, in 2000.
During her coursework at Florida State University and after graduation, Kolesnikova performed throughout Florida, where she was discovered by an executive at HSN (Home Shopping Network) who booked her to perform on the television network, gathering a national following of fans.
In 2003, Kolesnikova became the first Russian-American female pianist to travel overseas to entertain the U.S. Troops and made two world tours on behalf of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department (MWR) of the U.S. Navy as well as a solo tour to entertain the U.S. Troops in Italy, Spain and Greece in September 2003.
In 2006, Kolesnikova performed at the Salento International Film Festival on opening night to tens of thousands. She has recorded eight CDs of classical and popular music as well as an instructional video for students of piano. The following year she was featured in several episodes on PBS alongside TV personality Scott "The Piano Guy" Houston.
