The Rotary Club's annual "Taste of Italy" benefit is known to sell out every year. It supports beautiful causes, features a gourmet Italian buffet, and boasts top-tier entertainment.

But this year, the benefit, slated for April, will likely sell out well in advance. Here's why in one simple word: Oksana.

A Taste of Italy Poster

Oksana Kolesnikova (Click for FOX 13 News 2002 coverage) is one of the Tampa Bay Area's legendary local heroes. She's returning from the west coast for a one-night-only heartfelt performance, to support causes she says are close to her heart.

Oksana originally moved to St. Petersburg, Florida from Siberia, Russia in 1993 at age 15 and lived in the Tampa Bay area until 2005. Already a gifted pianist, she later developed into an iconic performer who transfixed international audiences with classical, popular and her own original music.

A concert-level classical pianist in a glamorous package, Oksana was called "Jessica Rabbit's musical Russian cousin" by the St. Petersburg Times in 2002. (Oksana’s American Dream)

Oksana later went on to release several albums of original music and tour worldwide, including tours for the US Armed Forces (Woman of the Week – CBS News) and the United Nations. She then moved to Los Angeles and built a name for herself performing for and teaching A-list celebrities (for example see: Oksana & Kim Kardashian).

Later, she founded Oksana School of Music & Art. The school now serves several hundreds of students and employs over fifty teachers.

"My heart will always be in the Tampa Bay Area because the people there opened their hearts to me," says Oksana. "Playing for worthwhile causes like these inspire my most heartfelt performances. So this will really be an emotional night to remember."

Oksana will perform a program of original music, which will include some popular Italian songs (click on the link to see the program).

The benefit supports Rotary’s Camp Florida (a camp for special needs Children who most likely would never have a chance to experience “kids camp” without this very special facility). It will also support other local charities and  a portion of the funds will support special state-of-the-art equipment for Florida Hospital Pepin Heart Institute.

Opening for Oksana will be Don Juceam -  Florida's Frank Sinatra!
